Association of Development and Regional Co-operation “Olza” is a voluntary agreement among municipalities and districts fromPoland, working for the development areas contiguousing to Polish-Czech borderland situated nearly the course ofOlzaRiver. Within the framework of taking activities Association prepresents and defends of affairs its territory in national and foreign relationships.

Activities undertaking by Association of Development and Regional Co-operation “Olza” are especially dedicated to cross-border co-operation. It follows from the fact that the main cause of establishing of it was idea directed to funding the Euroregion Śląsk Cieszyński (Cieszyn Silesia) on the Polish-Czech borderland in 22nd April 1998. Since that time “Olza” has represented Polish members (16 municipalities, 1 district) as Polish partner of agreement under a name “Euroregion CieszynSilesia” in relationships with its Czech partner. The range of Association cross-border activities includes:

  • exchange of experience and information related to the regional development;
  • exchange of experience and information related to the labor market;
  • co-operation on town and country planning;
  • solution of joint problems related to forwarding and transport services, communication and public safety;
  • solution of joint problems related to ecology and natural environment;
  • co-operation on prevention and liquidation of consequences of calamities;
  • co-operation on business and trade;
  • development of tourism, tourist traffic incl. further streamlining of the border traffic;
  • actions aimed at supporting the development of culture, education and sport, especially exchange of pertinent information;
  • cultural exchange and care of joint cultural heritage;
  • co-operation of rescue and mountain rescue services.
