European cross-border cultural capitals and sustainable urban development*

Organizers: Corina Turșie (University of West Timisoara) and Thomas Perrin (University of Lille)

The objective of the session is to cross-reference the work concerned with the European Capitals of Culture (ECCs), cross-border cultural policies and, in this way, to provide original elements of analysis on the situation of cross-border ECCs.

The session hosts case studies based on EQF cities (past, present or future) with a certain cross-border/euroregional dimension, methodological presentations specifying how to analyse the impact of EQF or cross-border cultural policies on territorial and social integration in these territories, analysis of the development of cultural policies in favour of cross-border community integration in terms of sense of belonging, social inclusion and urban development.
