Cooperation on health in border regions: How can we make it work?

Innovative and sustainable solutions exist across Europe to ensure access to high quality health care in border areas. These aim at facilitating cross-border mobility of patients and health professionals living and working in these border regions, improving access to local care as well as developing joint facilities and services. Particular focus is on the advanced cooperation at the Franco-Belgian border, which could serve as a benchmark for others. Questions to be addressed: what key elements lead to successful cross-border cooperation in health? How to raise awareness among policymakers and citizens of cross-border opportunities? How to make health cooperation long-lasting and institutionalised? How to inform about good practices and help to transpose solutions to other borders?
